Underwater
02:56
|
|||
If you took all the love in the world
And put it in a boat out at sea
And you wanted to set sail
Please set sail with me.
If you set down your case next to mine
And you looked at me and said, Let's go
We could teach each other
Everything we needed to know.
Underwater, underwater
Underwater swimming through a fever dream.
If you loved and you laughed and you left
When that joke wasn't funny anymore
And you wouldn't come to your window
When I stood at your door.
I would sleep with the rats in the alley
In the miserable winter rain
But no freezing or fever
Could ever come close to the pain.
Underwater, underwater
Underwater swimming through a fever dream.
And the sun might not reach down too far
But I'm here to remind you
That you may drift in darkness
But I will always find you.
If we wake with the world on fire
And we wonder if we're fanning the flame
Would you take my hand
And softly speak my name?
Underwater, underwater
Underwater swimming through a fever dream.
Swimming through a fever dream to you.

The Beginning
03:47
|
|||
The times that I went searching for the perfect thing to say
So blocked by doubt, no words got out
And the moment slipped away.
It never returned
I quietly burned.
And so I sat there silently, collapsing from the strain
With jokes that poked all who approached
And kept concealed the pain.
They never returned
They left me to burn.
Trying to walk a straight line while the room keeps spinning
This is the story that ends at the beginning.
I let the days unfold around me like a long slow yawn
And when the day I went to see, it was long, long gone.
Just a flatline, neither here nor there
Choosing the smoke instead of the air.
Not quite losing, man, well it ain't exactly winning
This is the story that ends at the beginning.
Life begins when we realize death always wins.
And now I only want to see everything I've missed
And everything that strives to find the strength just to exist
Oh but at the same time, moving forward to the sun
Knowing now that every single sun's a sinking one.
Every sun is a quickly sinking one.
The plot thickens while the hair keeps thinning
This is a story that ends at the beginning.
This story ends at the beginning.
This story ends.
